in ohio i believe. one team. that was the indianapolis colts, excuse me in indiana. the colts went to scout him out. davis now with the 49ers hooks up there, a 60-yard connection. there were some slop points at the end of this game but final score and bottom line the 49ers, 2-0 in the preseason, beat the vikings, 15-10. some 49ers notes, the first drive impressive. alex smith led the team down the field, 70 yards and 12 plays ending with the touchdown by anthony dixon. alex smith, three third down conversions and they converted on all three third down possessions. did not play, frank gore vernon davis, crabtree and even westbrook. so 49ers have a lot of star players. maybe more precaution that did not play. next saturday at the oakland coliseum, bay area rivalry, 49ers and raiders. the niners and the raiders will also play in the regular season. the raiders also looking pretty sharp. when we return we're going to take a break, we go to the locker room for our live coverage of the players getting off the field. we have laura standing by and two reporters on si

's like we're on tv. i take you tonight to indianapolis. they've had recent trouble with race relations after a controversial arrest back in may was made of a biracial teenager who suffered severe facial cuts and bruises in his arrest. one officer had been recommended for firing. protests for more firings have been held. let the court system work it out. if they're dirt bags, fire them. but one pastor in indianapolis had his own idea about how to deal with the tension. he came up with one of the worst ideas i think i've seen. that includes the segway. pastor james harrington of mount vernon missionary baptist church. he hatched a brilliant plan to put the indianapolis police department to the test. they invited a 17-year veteran of the force, sergeant matthew grimes to speak at the july 24 event hosted at the municipal gardens, a parks department facility in the city. sergeant grimes has done hundred of these sort of public appearances, community relations sergeant. that's what he does. pastor harrington and the park manager willard gutton planned have an altercation break out between t

president goes to indianapolis to speak to the veterans of foreign wars convention. he plans to talk about iraq, the imminent withdraw of combat troops, of course. saw those dramatic pictures last week crossing the border. now we have the vice president set to speak today in indianapolis. of course, he made some controversial comments earlier this summer, walking right up to taking credit for success in the iraq war as the administration sees it. notwithstanding withdrawing them on time but success as a whole and drew scoffing from former vice president biden. meanwhile, the white house announced yesterday the white house making that address on iraq, walking a fine line between mission accomplished, he doesn't want to do that, and drawing attention to the fact that he is meeting the august 31st deadline for withdrawing come bas forces and there are still 50,000 u.s. forces remaining in iraq, at least until the end of next year, chuck. >> all right. mike viqueira in a very windy and perhaps rainy martha's vineyard and guessing no golf in the president today. thanks very much. >> reporter: d

a work dispute with his employer that day. in indianapolis, indiana a masked gunman opened fire on a barbecue party, killing two people and wounding six. police say the man fled the scene by car. tuesday's shootings are the latest in a series of gun attacks in the u.s. in february a professor shot dead three colleagues at the university of alabama. in june a man killed four people at a restaurant in florida. >>> lebanese and israeli troops exchanged deadly fire on their countries' border on tuesday, killing five people including soldiers on both sides. the violence apparently erupted over a move by israeli soldiers to cut down a tree along the fence dividing the two countries. israel and lebanon have blamed each other for the eruption. the israeli military said they were working to maintain the fence along the border which they did not cross. the military said the lebanese army is responsible for the incident. lebanese president michel suleiman held israel accountable and said it would complain to the u.n. security council. in the skirmish three soldiers and one reporter were ki
